Francis Ceramics hand-painted tiles
Useful Information
We are able to offer a wide-ranging choice of imagery for our ceramic tile murals. Because we hand-paint them, they are in fact artworks on tiles. Here we show some of the murals we have painted for clients, working with them to achieve what they have in mind. Tile murals provide a permanent artwork in an environment and supply a hygienic and serviceable surface for public areas. Their uses are many including decoration, showing information such as a map, illustrating historical scenes, and their reflective surface also helps to provide more light.
There are many domestic uses including bathrooms, kitchens, swimming pools and gardens, the latter requiring correct waterproofing materials to be used for installation. Our tiles are suitable to be used in public areas and we are happy to discuss any projects. Please see our Interior Design and Architect Service in the Useful Information panel.

We have several variations of murals featuring birds. Three are shown here along with two detailed views. Two of the murals shown are naturalistic in nature, while one is more stylised.
Bird tile murals offer a superb way to treat your shower walls, providing a lovely environment in which to shower and creating a focal point in the bathroom.
The development plan for Woodland Birds is shown on the Projects page.

Mike Francis painting the Classical Landscape |
Classical Landscape |
The landscapes shown above feature quite detailed painting and our training as fine artists enables us to create murals for large spaces that have highly complex illustration.
The Arcadian Landscape was painted for a client for installation above an Aga and the Classical Landscape panel was commissioned for a swimming pool room. The size of the complete panel is 3 metres high by 7 metres long.
The development plans for the Arcadian Landscape mural project and the Classical landscape mural project can be seen on our Projects page.
Sepia architectural landscape for a Welsh Mansion |
Manganese magenta architectural landscape for a German kitchen |
Shown here are two murals commissioned to illustrate architecture. The Victorian house mural painted in reddish brown, left, shows the mansion at an earlier stage in its life before changes were made.
The landscape, right, is a 6 metre long mural decorating a kitchen. Mike Francis has used various views and landmarks in Wuppertal to make a scene that flows as a continuous panorama around the room. This is painted in the traditional of tile painting pigment of manganese dioxide on a tin glaze which produces a maroon shade.
The development plans for both of these murals are shown on our Projects page.

A panel from Koi Carp and Waterlilies tile mural
|
Water makes an excellent them for a tile mural and it can be treated in a number of different ways. Here we show two panels using waterlilies as a theme. The one shown far left, is from a long mural created for installation behind a bar in a restaurant. The whole panel is six metres in length. The finished effect is one of a decorative, restful scene without a central focus which provides a hygienic and hardwearing surface in a busy area. The Koi Carp and Waterlilies mural is one of two painted for a shower and the development plan can be seen on our Projects page. |
